We had an awesome day today with our 10th grade and 12th grade Academy teams.
The 10th Grade team had some challenging games, but the team stepped up and we could see their development as the day went on - good team play, good passing moves and team work from all the players. It was great to expose the players to a different challenge and the Tournament environment.
The 12th grade team were mostly playing up a grade but that didn't daunt them and they soon acclimatised to the physicality of some of the older players.
They made it through to the semi-final, only just missing out at 1-0. They rallied for a final win to place 3rd! And they only had one goal scored against them the entire tournament (6 games) - that's a pretty impressive defensive effort.
We saw great attitudes, some impressive passing and goals and lots of fun!
Thank you to Whanganui Athletic for hosting the event, to our players, coaches, parents and supporters - lots of happy but tired players tonight.
